Its name comes from the German "Kuchen" and means "cake". At the time, it was Stanislas's cooks who made it.
The recipes are passed down from generation to generation and its reputation is well established, just like the famous Lorraine pâtés or the bouchées à la reine which were created at the Château de Lunéville by the daughter of King Stanislas, Marie Leszczyńska.
