The mirabelle

The Golden Fruit

The Mirabelle plum of Lorraine, classified as a PGI ( Protected Geographical Indication ) since 1995, is generally enjoyed in mid-August. With its very short season, this golden fruit can be enjoyed as jam, dried, in compote, brandy, or in syrup. In 2019, 6,000 tons of Mirabelle plums from Lorraine PGI were harvested (source: Mirabelles de Lorraine ). There's even a museum dedicated to it, the Maison de la Mirabelle in Rozelieures, located between Nancy, Lunéville, and Epinal.
