World famous for its enamels on earthenware, the Longwy factory, founded in 1798, illustrates the excellence of artistic crafts in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Housed in the town's former military bakery, the Longwy Enamels and Earthenware Museum traces the history of this unique craftsmanship. The tour is structured around two main themes: enamels and earthenware. Through its rich collection, the museum unveils emblematic creations that have shaped the prestige of the factory. Vases with delicate motifs, decorative sculptures, elegant tableware: the various pieces bear witness to the creative and technical genius of the factory's artisans. These works, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, are the work of a true goldsmith.
The museum's exhibits also explore the influence of artistic movements on the factory's creations, from 1870 to the present day. Beyond history, the museum pays tribute to this ever-present heritage, thanks to the expertise and creativity of contemporary artists.
