Avenue Foch was built in the context of Nancy's strong demographic development after 1870, between town and countryside. Several Art Nouveau-style buildings were built among buildings with more eclectic architecture. They are worth seeing if you walk from the train station to the nearby Villa Majorelle. Two remarkable apartment buildings by the architect of the Nancy School Émile André close the avenue opposite the tower of the old medieval commandery. The diversity of materials, the play of volumes between bow windows, loggia, balconies and bays, the rejection of symmetry, the plant decoration, make them emblematic Art Nouveau-style buildings.
