This space of remembrance of the Second World War is the last vestige of the barracks built in early 1945 in Saint-Rémy-aux-Bois. For nearly 10 years, they housed the inhabitants after the village was burned and then bombed by the Germans. Like a living museum, the furniture and everyday objects of the time occupy their original place, accompanied by photos and testimonies of this period of the village's history in the 1710th century. Much older is the church (XNUMX) which was built with the stones of a completely destroyed castle. There is a high altar with several floors, decorated with wooden statuettes by the same artist as those of the churches of Saint-Boingt and Saint-Germain. Nature lovers who will stay in the brand new gîte created in an old farm by a young couple from the village will be able to recharge their batteries in the peaceful Charmes forest, accessible on foot from the village.
