The Vallée de la Plaine has preserved many traces of the First World War, often hidden on the mountainside. A place of remembrance, it allows for the study of mountain warfare. This area is the site of the first destruction of a Zeppelin by act of war and the greatest depth ever reached in underground warfare. The Chevrot gallery at the Col de la Chapelotte reaches a depth of 120 meters! Discover these exceptional remains in the company of passionate guides, from behind the French front to behind the German front. On both sides of the front, real factories were created for this underground war to supply the galleries with air and electricity. To see at the pass itself: a fountain built by French soldiers, a chapel built by the Cartier Bresson family and nearby: the Pierre à Cheval rocks, the Grotte des Poilus, the rock trail, ... Free visits by reservation only, from April to October.
