The Siege Well was built between 1679 and 1690 to supply water to the civilian population. It is 60 m deep and fed by a spring. It was given the name Bomb-Proof Well because of its enormous vaulted roof. Of the 5 wells dug in the past, it is the only one to remain and today houses the Grand Longwy Tourist Office. The Siege Well is one of the stops on the guided tour of Vauban's fortifications, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
