Printer Albert Bergeret, known for producing illustrated postcards, commissioned the architect Lucien Weissemburger to design his family home near his now-defunct printing house. The greatest artists of the Ecole de Nancy collaborated to create a highly accomplished example of Ecole de Nancy architecture—Louis Majorelle for the ironwork, Eugène Vallin for the woodwork, Jacques Gruber and Joseph Janin for the stained-glass windows, and Victor Prouvé for the immense painted canvas on the hall ceiling, reflecting the concept of total art. Visible from the outside all year round.
